John founded and has been a Managing Principal since 2005 in the firm Quinn Reed Associates LLC. He is designated as a Master Corporate Executive Coach by the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches, a Master Coach in Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching and a Professional Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation. His executive coaching book Pinpointing Excellence is popular with leaders who use it to evaluate and select top quality coaches. He is an executive committee member (2014-16) at the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches and a founding member of the Institute of Coaching Professional Association at Harvard Medical School.
He has an AB from Dartmouth College, an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth, an MS from Georgia State University and a PhD from the University of Georgia. Previously he worked in the strategy practice of Accenture and the public sector practice of CGI.
John has decades of corporate leadership, executive coaching, executive assessment, leadership development, organizational change and alignment, strategy consulting and team coaching experience globally in the biotechnology, chemical, construction, education, energy, entertainment, environmental services, federal government, financial services, food and spirits, healthcare, legal, manufacturing, not for profit, pharmaceuticals, real estate, retail and technology sectors.

John’s psychologist license is granted via the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards by the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. He is a member and the 2013-14 President of the Society of Psychologists in Management and a member of the Society of Consulting Psychology. He teaches MBA courses as an adjunct professor and often contributes as a speaker and writer.
He volunteers in the community. A U.S. Navy veteran, he is the 2016-18 Board President of the Nehemiah Center. He belongs to the Kiwanis Club of Houston, the servant leadership organization CEO Netweavers and the Center for Houston’s Future Business Leadership Forum. He also supports St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, KIPP Schools, Deerfield Academy, Dartmouth College and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
John and his wife have four children.
